On September 15, 2026, at approximately 3:42 AM, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a male subject stating that he had been shot multiple times by his wife.
Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene at the residence located in the 100 block of Lee Road 224 in Smiths Station and located the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect was not on scene at the time. The victim was transported by ambulance to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, GA, where he is being treated for his injuries.
The female suspect was located and taken into custody at a convenience store not far from the residence where the shooting occurred. She was transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. The initial investigation indicates the suspect may be suffering from mental health issues.
